Mustang Mach 1

1969 was a great year for muscle cars. It saw the birth of the Mach 1 version of the Ford Mustang. The car became a star attraction and still today stands out as on of the best American Automobiles.

The 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 was just one of a range of Mustangs available in the late 60's and 70's. Along with the Shelby and Cobra it offered customers a real performance option. Based on a concept car of 1967 the Mach 1 was introduced in 1969 and was positioned between the GT range of Bullitt mustang fame and the high spec BOSS 302.

The Mach 1 Mustang production continued until 1978 with a complete change to the Mustang II chassis in 1974. The Mustang Mach 1 was reborn in 2003 and 2004 with special editions drawing on the heritage of the original classic Mach 1.

Big Engines ruled the day and V8 was the order. Starting with the 351-ci small block with 250 hp and raising to the awesome big block 428-ci Cobra Jet with 335 hp with optional Ram Air Shaker Hood.

The Mach 1 went through 3 stages of development and production was finally ceased in 1978 with a rebirth in 2003. Non quite matched those early machines that define the Mach 1 brand.
